Abidjan is the economic capital of Ivory Coast, whose administrative and political capital is Yamoussoukro, and it is the most populated city in French-speaking West Africa.

It counts, according to the authorities of the country, in 2006, 5 068 858 inhabitants for the agglomeration, and 3 796 677 inhabitants for the city, that is to say 20% of the total population of the country. Only Lagos, the former English-speaking capital of Nigeria, outnumbers the number of inhabitants in this region.

The President of the Republic of Ivory Coast is His Excellency Mr. Alassane OUATTARA. Considered as the cultural crossroads of West Africa and even Africa, Abidjan is experiencing a perpetual growth characterized by a strong industrialization and a galloping urbanization.
